This table helps determine both the number of solar panels you need to support having all your appliances in use as well as the number of batteries you will need to keep appliances running after dark. There are many variables & "best practices" that may affect performance. These details will be discussed during the site visit. (Hours can be imputed as less than "1" such as .5, .25, etc)

Your battery choice is important as it is typically the largest portion of your cost. Gel batteries are less expensive but need to be replaced sooner. Lithium batteries are more expensive but last much longer. Gel batteries cost approximately $400 with 1 year warranty and 2 - 3 year life expectancy. Lithium Ion batteries cost approximately $3700 with 10 year warranty and 20+ year life expectancy.

It is important to note that the below costs are only an estimate. Upon inspection, there may be avenues to reduce or you may want to build an even more robust system.

We start by determining your current total monthly energy "cost". We do this by adding your typical energy bill + the additional costs that are incurred due to the unreliability of your current power source. We then divide your estimate by this total to determine the number of years it would take to pay off the install with your current energy costs. If the solar system is paid off before the life of the batteries ends, solar makes sense. We calculate your savings by multiplying your current energy costs by the number of months you will be receiving "free energy" (months after your system is paid off prior to needing new batteries). We use the warranty life of the battery, so keep in mind that we are underestimating the savings. Our Lithium-Ion batteries typically last over 20 years.
